Admission Arrangements

From September 2000, Queensway has operated a once yearly entry. The curriculum will be specially tailored for the under-5's.

Queensway will continue to support the active Mother and Toddler Group which operates at the Assumption Church, Abbey Road and the Pre-School connected to the Holy Angels Parish.

Following consultation with the Local Authority and others in accordance with the requirements of the law, the Governing Body has set its PAN for 2010 and 2011 at 30pupils. As required by KS1 legislation the Governing Body will not admit more than 30 pupils to any Reception or KS1 class. If the number of applications is greater than the number of places available applications will be ranked according to the categories set out below. Children with Statements of Educational Need which name the school on the statement will have automatic entitlement to a place at the school. priority:

  1. Category 1 Children who are in care.
  2. Category 2 Baptised Catholic Children.Evidence required:Baptismal certificate or signature of a Catholic Priest confirming knowledge of child's baptism.
  3. Category 3 Children currently enrolled in a programme of preparation for Baptism into the Catholic Church.Evidence required signature of Catholic priest confirmning enrolement.
  4. Category 4 Children whose normal residence is with at least one parent who is a baptised Catholic. Evidence required baptismal certificate or signature of a Catholic priest confirming knowledge of the parent's baptism.
  5. Category 5 Children who are members of another recognised Christian faith.Evidence required is a signature of minister of religion testifying to this fact. (Evidence from Self Declaration
  6. Category 6 Children who are members of another recognised faith tradition.Evidence required is a signature of minsiter testifying to this fact.
  7. Category 7 Other children of whatever background whose parents preference for the school is because they wish their child(ren) to experience a faith centered education. Evidence required is a signed statement /self declaration by parents.
  8. Category 8 All other children whose parents express a preference for the school for whatever reason.Evidence required is the Common Application Form.

Appeals

Under the Standards and Framework Act,appeals against refusal to admit must be made in writing by the parent/guradian to the Director of Admission and Student Services, Oldway Mansions, Paignton TQ3 2TE Deferment Statement. Parents of children who are entitled to enter school before compulsory school age do have the option to defer entry until later in the same year but not beyond the beginning of the term after the child's fifth birthday. The parishes the school serves are Holy Angels, Chelston and The Church of the Assumption, Abbey Road Torquay.
